Role overview

Our client is one of a small number of international law firms whose funds practice is consistently ranked in the top tier across all major legal directories. The firm is hiring an associate into its Dubai office to join a team that advises on some of the most complex and high-profile fund formation and structuring work in the region. The practice acts for a client base that includes the region's largest sovereign wealth funds, global asset managers and leading financial institutions. The work is technically demanding, the clients are first-rate, and the platform offers genuine exposure to transactions that define the market. For a funds lawyer looking to work at the highest level in the Gulf, this is one of the strongest practices in the region.

Key responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate fund formation documents including partnership agreements, management agreements, subscription documents and side letters
  • Advise sponsors, asset managers and institutional investors on regulatory structuring, fund governance and compliance
  • Support on cross-border fund structures involving coordination with offshore and international counsel
  • Advise on DFSA and ADGM regulatory authorisation, fund manager licensing and ongoing compliance obligations
  • Assist with fund restructurings, secondary transactions and co-investment arrangements
  • Work directly with partners and senior associates on client-facing matters from an early stage

  • Approximately 3 to 6 years' PQE
  • Onshore funds experience from a recognised international law firm
  • Strong technical grounding in fund formation, structuring and financial services regulation
  • Experience of DIFC, ADGM or comparable international financial centre fund regimes is beneficial but not essential
