Role overview
Our client is a leading US-headquartered law firm with a well-established Middle East projects practice. The firm is looking to hire an Associate to join its regional projects team in Dubai, working across project development, project finance and infrastructure. The team acts for sponsors, developers, lenders and government entities on energy, renewables, transport, water and social infrastructure projects, and is particularly strong on deals involving US-linked financing, export credit agencies and multilateral lenders. This is a strong opportunity for a mid-level lawyer who wants a mix of development and finance work on a US firm platform.
Key responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate facility agreements, security packages, intercreditor and direct agreements
- Advise on concession agreements, PPP structures, development agreements and government procurement
- Act for sponsors, lenders, ECAs and DFIs on energy, infrastructure and utilities projects
- Draft and negotiate EPC, O&M and offtake agreements
- Advise on regulatory and structuring points on projects across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC
- Work with the firm's US and international offices on cross-border deals
- Contribute to business development and knowledge sharing within the practice
Candidate profile
- Around 4 to 7 years' PQE
- Projects or project finance background from a recognised international law firm
- Sponsor or lender side project finance experience
- Exposure to project development, EPC contracts or infrastructure work valued
- GCC or Middle East experience preferred, though strong candidates from other markets will be considered
- Confident running workstreams and dealing directly with clients
- Strong drafting across finance and project documents
