Role overview
Our client, an international banking group with an established regional platform, is hiring a Legal Counsel in Dubai to support its corporate banking business. The role covers legal support for lending and credit products, transaction banking, and the day-to-day advisory needs of front-line coverage and product teams, with regulatory and documentation work running through everything. It suits a banking lawyer who wants breadth across products and genuine client-facing exposure inside a substantial institution.
Key responsibilities
- Advise on corporate lending and credit transactions, including bilateral and syndicated facilities, security packages, and intra-group arrangements
- Support transaction banking products, including trade finance, cash management, and related documentation
- Review and negotiate facility documentation, ISDA and market-standard documentation, and product terms
- Advise coverage and product teams on legal risk in client arrangements and new product initiatives
- Support regulatory engagement and the implementation of regulatory change affecting the business
- Instruct and manage external counsel on transactions and contentious matters
- Contribute to templates, precedents, and legal function processes across the regional platform
Candidate profile
- Around 4 to 8 years of post-qualification experience in banking and finance
- Common law qualified, with training at a respected international practice or experience within a bank legal team
- Strong grounding in lending and facility documentation; exposure to trade finance, transaction banking, or markets documentation an advantage
- Familiar with the regional regulatory environment, or able to build that familiarity quickly
- Clear, commercial, and comfortable advising business stakeholders directly
