Role overview
Our client is an early-stage fintech platform based in ADGM, operating in the payments and technology infrastructure space. Backed by significant institutional investment, the business is scaling quickly and is looking to bring on its first dedicated in-house legal hire. The ideal lawyer will be entrepreneurial, able to work at pace in a complex and ever-changing environment. This is a rare opportunity to build a legal function from scratch inside a genuinely ambitious, well-funded start-up.
Key responsibilities
- Act as sole in-house legal counsel, working directly with senior leadership
- Draft and negotiate commercial contracts across a range of business lines
- Develop template contracts, policies and employment documentation
- Advise on data protection, IP and regulatory matters as the business scales
- Manage day-to-day legal queries across the organisation
Candidate profile
- Mid-level PQE, broad commercial generalist background
- Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy and limited support
- Entrepreneurial, self-sufficient, adaptable, genuinely suited to start-up pace and ambiguity
- Fintech, payments or technology sector experience strongly preferred
- ADGM/UAE experience an advantage; Arabic helpful but not essential
- Discreet and comfortable working in a high-profile, fast-changing environment
